Good Neighbors International Kyrgyzstan is implementing community development projects to create a society where children are happy and community members live in harmony. Community Development Projects (CP) are based on the leadership of the community development committee, the representation of the organization in the community, and the cooperation and partnership of local volunteers, regional government and international organizations. Good Neibors in the Kyrgyz Republic seeks sustainable community development through empowerment, leadership, ownership and harmony with the environment.
Community Development Projects
Good Neighbors Kyrgyzstan carried out education projects for communities in order to improve educational environments, and provide quality education for the children. To ensure that more children can have access to education, Good Neighbors Kyrgyzstan provided support to school with facilities, supplies, and education programs. We also conducts advocacy projects to provide fundamental solutions to the structural causes of rights violations, as well as to establish social condition which the rights of children can be protected.
Good Neighbors Kyrgyzstan provides a variety of medical support for children and communities who fall ill due to poor medical care and lack of basic medical services. We strive to raise community awareness of health and sanitation through educational programs and workshops.

Our goal is to provide children and members of the community access to clean and sustainable water sources, which is the basic human right and the need for survival. Our goal is to teach the local community to properly use water resources and to provide clean drinking water.
Good Neighbors help members of the community with limited resources, information and low technical skills to start and manage cooperatives to expand business opportunities and develop capacity. We provide seed grants and technical support to ensure equitable economic and community development.
Seasonal employment and lack of opportunities in Kamyshanovka village creates many barriers and complicates lives of local people. Considering these and other factors, Good Neighbors International in Kyrgyz Republic in cooperation with Enactus Kyrgyzstan launched sewing workshop in Kamyshanovka village, Nizhne-Chuysk CDP. The project includes trainings (capacity building), employment and childcare center for seamstress children. At the moment, there 5 women who are employed on full time basis. Their income is approximately 4600 soms. The sewing workshop also provides service to local community.
The handmade wool products sales project showed an excellent results last year. At this moment "Bugu Ene" and "Ak Ilbirs" already produced about 3000 coasters total, as a result it gave IG groups a profit more than 3500$ for 2018 year. In the summer of 2018, Bugu Ene and Ak Ilbirs in cooperation with MerryCoop team have begun developing a second product that was more difficult to implement, and which also marked the transition to the next stage of project development. A technology has been developed for the production of footwear with the involvement of shoemaking professionals. As a result, from Noember to December 2018, we were able to fulfill the first order of MerryCoop slippers in a number of 400 pieces, which gave the IG groups a net profit of 2,318$. The brand is highly valued in South Korea and we intend to continue at the same pace. Even small projects have big potential to grow just need patience and hard work from people.
In order to develop local businesses, create new job opportunities and provide local population with fresh bakery products, on March 2018 Good Neighbors in Kyrgyz Republic and Enactus Kyrgyzstan launched bakery project in Nizhne-Chuysk at Mrs.Arzykan's (local entrepreneur) bakery: baking oven, two mixers, kitchen table and industrial shelves. This project has a great impact: 3 women trained and employed, local community has fresh and tasty bakery products and local entrepreneur expanded the business.
Bolot Mambetov Ayil Okmotu has big potential in dairy production and cattle breeding. On October 2018 Good Neighbors International in Kyrgyz Republic launched a milk project in that region. At the present time, Good Neighbors milk truck is providing milk collection service within 4 villages (Eshperovo, Ak-Sai, Kok-Sai, Jer Ui) and collecting milk from approximately 100 households. In addition, the project employed 2 people. The main goal of this project is to improve economic sustainability of local community and improve lives of farmers. Furthermore, in order to create favorable conditions and increase sustainability of the project Good Neighbors International in Kyrgyz Republic are planning to purchase 7 dairy cattle and create a mini farm. The min farm will have 3 goals:
- Milk from 7 dairy cattle will support the milk project by increasing the overall milk quantity;
- Mini farm will create addition employment for 2 more people;
- Newborn calves in cooperation with the local community (Jaamats) will be reared; thereby the number of livestock will be increased and the project will reach its sustainability.
Today, Good Neighbors has been raising public awareness of children rights and gender equality through trainings, seminars and public campaigns. It helps socially vulnerable people, especially children and women, to know their rights, make their voices heard and unite with their society and nation in order to achieve a change.
Good Neighbors have conducted various capacity development programs and awareness campaigns in order to lead behavior change of children, community members and policy makers. Furthermore we pursue institutional and political change through networking with civil societies, and suggesting policy changes. Good Neighbors’ advocacy programs help children and community members understand their rights and influence policy decision making as well as a government accountable.

Child Sponsorship Program is a unique program of Good Neighbors International in the Kyrgyz Republic. The program is designed for children from 3 to 12 years old (at the time of the enrollment of children into the program) in community development projects. It is a programm of "1 child - 1 sponsor."
Thanks to donations from the sponsor, it is possible to improve the life of the child and his / her family through support in providing access
The program of sponsorship for children is considered for a minimum of 5 years, with a possible extension to 15 years.
The enrollment of children into the program takes place only on the territory of community development projects. The project of child sponsorship includes children from low-income, single-parent families, or where parents (one of the parents or both) are disabled, as well as orphans who are in the care of relatives.
