Update: Integrated Rural Development Project in the Kyrgyz Republic
On July 20 and 27, 2023, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic had productive meetings with representatives from Osh and Batken regions to discuss the IRDP's progress. Heads of rural development departments, regional development funds, Aiyl Okmotu, committees, and IRDP partners actively participated in the discussions. The meetings focused on reporting activities in each village, addressing implementation challenges, promoting the project, and planning activities until 2023 end. Valuable insights from farmers and local villagers also played a crucial role in enhancing project efficiency. IRDP team are committed to the success of the Berekely Aimak project and will continue holding implementing committee meetings twice a year.
*Integrated Rural Development Project in Kyrgyz Republic, jointly with the Government of Kyrgyz Republic represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and KOICA, aims to reduce poverty in 30 villages over 4 years. It focuses on improving socio-economic conditions, promoting women's rights, sustainable agriculture, and advocating for rural development policies.
Since September 2024, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic has launched an ambitious project to introduce STEAM education into the school system. The project covers 16 schools in 4 CDP area.
The aim of the project is to improve the quality of education, prepare students for modern challenges and opportunities, stimulating their interest in exact sciences and technologies. STEAM is not just about knowledge — it is an approach that shapes future leaders and innovators!
We believe that such initiatives will help Kyrgyz schoolchildren to step towards innovation and international education standards.

In October 2024, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic held a training session on climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture in the Orozbekov aiyl okmoty of the Kadamzhai district, Batken oblast. The training was attended by members of the operational committee, water users from the "Kayindy-Ohna" Water Management Unit, water source managers (murabs), representatives from women's and youth committees, and representatives from the village council.
During the training, a plan of action for local communities to deal with climate change was discussed, and sustainable solutions were proposed. This project is being implemented on the basis of a project called "Enhancing Climate Resilience and Livelihoods through Orchard Cultivation and Sustainable Water Management in Batken Oblast."

Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic had a Shin Dong Min scholarship award ceremony. This scholarship program has been implemented since 2018 for schoolchildren in Talas Oblast. 2024, 9th October, jointly with Talas Oblast Administration 36 schoolchildren from all regions of the Oblast received scholarship and stationery set. We believe that each child has great potential and strive to motivate them in the journey of education.
