Training Session on Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Agriculture in Batken Oblast
In October 2024, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic held a training session on climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture in the Orozbekov aiyl okmoty of the Kadamzhai district, Batken oblast. The training was attended by members of the operational committee, water users from the "Kayindy-Ohna" Water Management Unit, water source managers (murabs), representatives from women's and youth committees, and representatives from the village council.
During the training, a plan of action for local communities to deal with climate change was discussed, and sustainable solutions were proposed. This project is being implemented on the basis of a project called "Enhancing Climate Resilience and Livelihoods through Orchard Cultivation and Sustainable Water Management in Batken Oblast."

As part of the "Girls Empowerment Club" project, girls' changing rooms have been equipped in the sports halls of three schools in Sokuluk district:
- Lower Chuy Secondary School №1
- Lower Chuy Secondary School №2
- Kamyshanovka Secondary School
Additionally, work is ongoing in seven more schools.

Protect Nature with Us!
The 8th-grade students of Kamyshanovka School, as part of the Global Youth Network project, organized a campaign to promote waste sorting and environmental education.
What was done:
- Created bright banners about the importance of waste sorting
- Held eco-lectures for their classmates
- Set up a green corner in the school with Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic
- Installed waste sorting bins in the school and local government office

The Sary-Sogot cooperative is growing!
Thanks to the Good Neighbors program, income-generating projects, the Sary-Sogot cooperative is steadily developing, increasing honey production and the number of participants. In 2024, the cooperative participated in the “Honey” project with the support of Good Neighbors. By December 2024, the participants had successfully implemented the project.
Now the cooperative's goal is to produce more honey and create a sustainable future for its business.
- The success story of beekeeper Samat Musuraliev -
Samat Musuraliev, a member of the Sary-Sogot cooperative, with more than 10 years of experience in beekeeping, has achieved impressive results! In 2024, thanks to the support of our program and the loan received, he collected 117 barrels of honey (3429 kg) and sold it to international markets.
In 2025, he plans to improve conditions for bees by purchasing 100 new hives.
