Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic and KNAU Signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

On May 21, 2026, a meeting was held between the Director of , Cho Sunheng, and the Rector of , Nurzat Ermekovna Totubaeva.

During the meeting, the parties discussed further cooperation, promising areas of joint activities, and the implementation of projects in the fields of agriculture, education, and local community development. Special attention was given to the introduction of innovative agricultural technologies, the development of research activities, and the improvement of farmers’ qualifications.

As a result of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between and . The memorandum aims to strengthen partnership in the implementation of modern agricultural technologies, cultivation of agricultural crops, including through the IN VITRO scientific and production laboratory, as well as the realization of joint research and educational initiatives.

Following the signing ceremony, representatives of were given a tour of the IN VITRO scientific and production laboratory. During the tour, the laboratory’s achievements were presented, including the cultivation of virus-free potatoes and other agricultural products using modern biotechnologies.

It is worth noting that this year , together with the university, is implementing a pilot project on growing virus-free seedlings in the village of in the .

The parties expressed confidence that this cooperation will contribute to the implementation of sustainable and effective projects aimed at the development of agriculture and the support of farmers in .

Land Preparation: Training for Farmers

On November 29-30, 2024, in the village of Jer-Ui, Bolot Mambetov CDP, Ton district, Issyk-Kul region a two-day training was held on the topic of preparing land before processing Plots of steel from 35 farmers from the villages of AkSai, KokSai, Eshperov, Temir-Kanat and Jer-Ui.

 

The training was conducted by an experienced specialist Chang Pae Lee from the Global Impact Foundation. Precinct officer:

- We studied 4 key principles of land cultivation.

- We learned how to use local microorganisms (IMO) to improve soil fertility.

- We learned the preparation stages IMMO 1, IMMO 2 and IMO 3.

 

Thank you for the knowledge you have gained, the farmer will be able to convince of the effectiveness of his work and improve the quality of the poor. We are looking forward to how these Innovations will help in the development of agriculture in the region!

This video shares the inspiring story of a Good Neighbors project aimed at supporting local farmers through affordable credit. Our heroes, Ruslan Toichubekov and Munarbek Zhamankulov, experienced beekeepers, received a low-interest loan to purchase modern beehives and bee boxes.

Thanks to this project, their beekeeping business has flourished. You'll get a glimpse of their apiaries, households, and learn how Good Neighbors' support has improved their lives and boosted local production.

 

About the Project: Toktogul honey is one of the income generation projects that we launched in 2022. During this time, we have allocated about 4.2 million soms. Our beneficiaries are 19 people.

The goal of this project is to increase the income of local farmers and the Toktogul honey brand.

Trainings for the CHW

From 14 November to 22 November 2024, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic is being conducted series of trainings for the Community Health Workers (CHW) on anemia prevention and microelements deficit. The trainings are conducted at the regional level in Sokuluk, Ton, Toktogul and Kara-Suu regions within the framework of the project "Strengthening the community health in partnership with CHW", in collaboration with the Republican Health Center and Mass Communication.

In remote regions of the country an alarming level of anemia and iron deficit is observed, especially among children and women, caused by the malnutrition. The goal of the training is to increase the level of awareness of the volunteers, who are the activists and leaders of CHWs, about nutritious food and necessity to take preventive measures to replenish such essential elements for the human organism.

After the trainings, CHWs will conduct increasing awareness campaigns with the population with application of informative materials.
