Focus Group Discussions within the Framework of a Comprehensive Needs Assessment were conducted

A series of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) was successfully conducted as part of the comprehensive needs assessment in the Community Development Projects (CDPs) of Kok-Chu, Bolot Mambetova, Bel-Aldy, and Zhapalak located in Chui, Issyk-Kul, Osh, and Jalal-Abad regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The discussions brought together representatives of various community groups, including teachers, healthcare workers, parents, youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, representatives of local self-government bodies, and vulnerable population groups. The focus groups served as a platform for open discussion of current community challenges, identification of priority needs, and exploration of possible solutions.

The discussions covered issues related to education, healthcare, access to clean water and sanitation, rights protection, social support, employment, and income generation. Special attention was given to the challenges faced by vulnerable groups, access to basic services, improvement of living conditions, and strengthening the capacity of local communities.

The Focus Group Discussions enabled the collection of valuable qualitative information and ensured active community participation in the needs assessment process. The findings will be used for further planning and for developing practical programs and initiatives that are responsive to the real needs of the communities.

Trainings for the CHW

From 14 November to 22 November 2024, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic is being conducted series of trainings for the Community Health Workers (CHW) on anemia prevention and microelements deficit. The trainings are conducted at the regional level in Sokuluk, Ton, Toktogul and Kara-Suu regions within the framework of the project "Strengthening the community health in partnership with CHW", in collaboration with the Republican Health Center and Mass Communication.

In remote regions of the country an alarming level of anemia and iron deficit is observed, especially among children and women, caused by the malnutrition. The goal of the training is to increase the level of awareness of the volunteers, who are the activists and leaders of CHWs, about nutritious food and necessity to take preventive measures to replenish such essential elements for the human organism.

After the trainings, CHWs will conduct increasing awareness campaigns with the population with application of informative materials.

Child Sponsorship Graduates Support Program

As part of the Graduate Support Program in our communities, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic conducted a series of training sessions for high school students and graduates. This project was aimed at career guidance, skill development, and knowledge enhancement, as well as providing opportunities for admission to top universities in Kyrgyzstan and abroad.

Our participants not only received valuable advice and knowledge but also attended excursions and workshops where they could witness real learning and working conditions firsthand. This is a unique opportunity to be inspired, gain practical experience, and understand the steps needed to build a successful future.

We believe that such initiatives help young people unlock their potential and make informed career choices. We extend our gratitude to everyone who supports and inspires the younger generation in our communities and beyond!
