The Director of Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic visited community development projects in Toktogul Di

On 12–13 March 2026, the Director of Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic Cho Soonhyoung conducted a working visit to the villages of Bel-Aldy, Uch-Terek, and Kotormo in Toktogul District to review the results of implemented projects and ongoing initiatives aimed at community development.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the First Deputy Akim of Toktogul District, Asanov Askat Tashtemirovich. The parties discussed the results of joint work over the past year, prospects for further cooperation, and the sustainability of projects implemented through co-funding with the participation of local communities and local self-government bodies.

At Secondary School No. 30 named after K. Toktoraliev in Uch-Terek village, the Director reviewed the kitchen equipment installed under the “Healthy Nutrition” project, aimed at improving school feeding conditions and sanitation infrastructure. Attention was also given to the Girls Friendly Toilets project, which is currently nearing completion.

In Bel-Aldy village, the Director visited Mukash Zhamgyrkanov School, where an IT classroom was established and interactive boards were installed through a co-funded project. During the visit, students demonstrated how they use digital equipment in their daily learning process. The introduction of modern technologies contributes to the development of students’ digital skills and expands their educational opportunities.

In Kotormo village, the Director visited a kindergarten established through the joint efforts of the Abdy Suerkulov Aiyl Okmotu and Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic. During the visit, issues related to the sustainability and further development of early childhood education services were discussed.

Overall, the visit confirmed the positive impact of projects implemented with active participation of local communities and highlighted the importance of partnership between residents, local self-government bodies, and Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic for sustainable regional development.

Training Session on Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Agriculture in Batken Oblast

In October 2024, Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic held a training session on climate change adaptation and sustainable agriculture in the Orozbekov aiyl okmoty of the Kadamzhai district, Batken oblast. The training was attended by members of the operational committee, water users from the "Kayindy-Ohna" Water Management Unit, water source managers (murabs), representatives from women's and youth committees, and representatives from the village council.

During the training, a plan of action for local communities to deal with climate change was discussed, and sustainable solutions were proposed. This project is being implemented on the basis of a project called "Enhancing Climate Resilience and Livelihoods through Orchard Cultivation and Sustainable Water Management in Batken Oblast."

Shin Dong Min Scholarship 2024

Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic had a Shin Dong Min scholarship award ceremony. This scholarship program has been implemented since 2018 for schoolchildren in Talas Oblast. 2024, 9th October, jointly with Talas Oblast Administration 36 schoolchildren from all regions of the Oblast received scholarship and stationery set. We believe that each child has great potential and strive to motivate them in the journey of education.

New Kindergarten Kitchen & Medical Center

On October 8, 2024, the organization "Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic" held an opening ceremony for a new kindergarten kitchen in the Uch-Terek village in the Toktogul district. As part of this project, "Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic" provided the administration and management of the kindergarten with the necessary construction materials, as well as modern equipment. The new kitchen, equipped with advanced technology, will ensure that children have access to healthy, nutritious, and balanced meals.

On the same day, a new medical center was opened, built through the joint efforts of local authorities, medical staff, residents, and "Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic." With funding and support from "Good Neighbors Kyrgyz Republic," the water supply system was reconstructed, allowing all key areas of the medical center to have access to clean drinking water.

This medical center holds significant strategic importance for the region, as it provides assistance not only to the residents of Toktogul district (approximately 30,000 people) but also serves the section of the Bishkek-Osh road, where accidents frequently occur.
